Grants Update: Fall 2018

Each year, Worsfold Grants support student-led service projects on campus and in the community

Dr. Victor Worsfold was an Arts & Humanities professor from 1975-2001. He taught courses in ethics, social and political philosophy, the philosophy of education, and humanities. Dr. Worsfold passed away in 2013 but will always remain an esteemed member of the McDermott family. These grants are just one way that his legacy lives on.

Hermanos Sobre Fronteras (Brothers Across/Over Borders) sent two students to a migrant shelter in Ixtepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. They intended to elevate the personal voices of migrants in Mexico as well as illustrating the importance of human rights advocacy.


UTD Global Medical & Dental Brigades seeks to address the lack of healthcare resources in rural communities in Central America by providing a free medical clinic to residents of these under-resourced communities. Funds were used to purchase medical equipment used during their visit to Panama this summer.


University Emergency Medical Response (UEMR) is an initiative focused on providing quality, campus-centered emergency medical care to the UT Dallas community. UEMR is a licensed First-Responder Organization with professionally trained students, faculty, and staff volunteers who respond to medical emergency incidences with the full support of the UTD Police.
